Sleeping Daisies

Scarred by life,
worn like a badge of honour.
I'm a survivor,
I made it through
the rough and tumble,
the darkness,
the nightmares.
Scars each tell a tale
of adventure,
misadventure,
tragedy,
childhood pranks;
life-saving,
life-giving,
near-death.
If they could talk,
oh, the the tales they could tell
of days gone by.
They add character,
each one a flaw,
yet tells of a life lived,
of something more than can be seen
on the surface.
Scarred beauty.
Humanity showing
in a world that wants,
yet cannot give,
perfection.
