Sleeping Daisies

I'm human, just like you.
Underneath the colour of our skin
our hearts beat,
pushing the same colour blood around our bodies.
We breathe the same air into our lungs,
though we don't share a mother tongue.
Yet because of this you look at me
as though I'm scum.
I feel the heat of the sun,
just like you do.
The same earth turns beneath our feet.
Winds blow and rains fall on us,
just the same,
but you still see me as a second class
non-person.
I wish you were colour blind.
